Glass Desert Studio is a working fused glass studio based in Utah, where each piece is created through a hands on process of exploration, technique, and design.
Fused glass art is created in a wide range of patterns and forms, applying different techniques to shape each piece. Yet no matter where the work explores, it is always drawn back to the desert- to its raw textures, tribal symbols etched in stone, and ancient dwellings.

Meet the Artist Cheryl McBride
I didn’t set out to follow one path in glass—I’ve always been drawn to the process of discovering what it can become.
Working with fused glass allows me to experiment, layer, and push ideas in new directions. Some pieces come from structure, others from instinct. It’s a balance of control and letting the material lead.
Glass Desert Studio is a shared space. My husband Scott works alongside me, and together we bring each piece to life. Outside the studio, I love being a grandma, traveling, and exploring nature. Our dog, Nebo, is always nearby, a constant companion.
Time spent in the desert continues to shape how I see and create. It’s not something I try to recreate—it’s something that naturally finds its way into the work.
The desert doesn’t define my work—it lives quietly within it.
The Journey From Fragments to form
Each piece begins with cut shapes of glass, carefully selected and arranged. Through heat and time in the kiln, those separate elements soften, fuse, and transform-revealing depth, movement, and from. What begins as individual pieces becomes a single work of art shaped by both intention and the unpredictable nature of glass.
