About Glass Desert Studio

Meet the Artist

Cheryl McBride

I didn’t set out to follow one path in glass—I’ve always been drawn to the process of discovering what it can become.

Working with fused glass allows me to experiment, layer, and push ideas in new directions. Some pieces come from structure, others from instinct. It’s a balance of control and letting the material lead.

Glass Desert Studio is a shared space. My husband Scott works alongside me, and together we bring each piece to life. Outside the studio, I love being a grandma, traveling, and exploring nature. Our dog, Nebo, is always nearby, a constant companion.

Time spent in the desert continues to shape how I see and create. It’s not something I try to recreate—it’s something that naturally finds its way into the work.

The desert doesn’t define my work—it lives quietly within it.

The Studio Philosophy

At Glass Desert Studio, glass work is more than a technique—it’s a balance between control and creativity. While skill and experience guide the process, the glass itself often determines the final outcome. This balance is what makes each piece special.

Whether creating sculptural art, functional glass, or custom commissions, the goal is always the same:

to create meaningful, lasting glass art that connects with the viewer.
